Welcome to the Practice of Dr. Mario J Perez
My Background
Welcome to my practice. I’m Dr. Mario Perez, a psychiatrist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s complexities and uncover their strengths. With expertise spanning ADHD, trauma, relational dynamics, and addiction psychiatry, my approach is both comprehensive and tailored to meet you where you are. My goal is to help you achieve personal growth and healing in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
My Philosophy
I believe mental health is a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and connection. Every individual’s story is unique, shaped by relationships, culture, and personal experiences. In my practice, I take a psychodynamic approach, exploring how past patterns influence your present while equipping you with practical strategies for growth and change. Whether you’re managing ADHD, navigating family dynamics, or seeking relief from stress or trauma, I offer a space where you can feel understood and supported.
My Expertise
ADHD Medication Management: Helping high-functioning individuals achieve focus, clarity, and balance.
Relational and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Uncovering hidden patterns and fostering healthier relationships.
Trauma and Stress Recovery: Guiding toward resilience after challenging life experiences.
Addiction Psychiatry: Providing compassionate, evidence-based care when substance use intersects with mental health.
While addiction psychiatry is part of my expertise, it’s just one aspect of a holistic practice designed to meet the diverse needs of all my clients.
Education and Training
I am board-certified in Psychiatry and board-eligible in Addiction Psychiatry. My academic journey includes completing medical school, a psychiatry residency, and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Additionally, I trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Denver Psychoanalytic Institute, allowing me to blend evidence-based care with a deep understanding of relational dynamics
Professional Experience
In addition to my private practice, I manage an inpatient addiction team at the University of Colorado Hospital's Center for Dependency, Addiction, and Rehabilitation (CeDAR). This role allows me to continually refine my expertise in treating substance use disorders through direct patient care and collaboration with a dedicated team of professionals
